Second Semester Technology PD Offerings




Looking to gain a further understanding of effective technology integration?  We are excited to offer two opportunities for our teachers during the second semester of the 2012-13 school year.  


TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION TO ENHANCE LEARNING

Description: The teachers will expand their understanding of technology integration as it relates to use of technology to teach, to learn, and to produce. Two specific models will be used: Technology Integration Matrix and Bloom's Taxonomy (New). This course will follow an action research/study group approach to include teacher input in establishing topics of study. Also, coaching techniques will be incorporated to continue the development and attainment of each teacher's individual, professional, technology integration goals.

Foundation Topics:
• Where do I begin? (Student Technology Skills, NETS-S)
• How do I fit it all in? (Personal Implementation Plans)
• What should I consider when planning my lessons? (JTHS Integration Map)
• How do I know if I am integrating it correctly? (Technology Integration Matrix (TIM)
• What can I do to make sure lessons go as smoothly as possible when using technology? (Scaffolding) 

Course Expectations: 
• 16 scheduled, 1 hour professional development sessions
• Participation in weekly meetings/activities
• 2 videos of class periods with self-reflection
• 3 coaching sessions during plan periods
• Share learning with colleagues during Institute and SIP sessions. 

Credits: Participation in at least 15 out of the 16 meetings and the above Course Expectations are required to earn credit.

CPDU hours: 11
JIU credit hours: 1

Classes begin 1/15 and 1/16 depending on your campus

Description: The teachers will explore and implement technology integration ideas for student learning activities. Ideas will be explored within the context of…

• identifying course standards, academy themes and perspectives, and technology skills to align purposeful activities
• identifying and gaining proficiencies with technologies that can be used
• planning for and preparing support/scaffolding needed for student success
• aligning student engagement with higher order thinking as defined by Bloom’s Taxonomy and the Technology Integration Matrix (TIM)
• evaluating student skill mastery through assessment methods 

Course Expectations:  
- 16 scheduled, 1 hour professional development sessions
- Participation in weekly meetings/activities
- Design and Implement 5 Lesson plans that meet course criteria
- 2 coaching sessions during plan periods
- Share learning with colleagues (during Institute, SIP sessions, etc.) 

Credits: Participation in at least 15 out of the 16 meetings and the above Course Expectations are required to earn credit.
